This is a special time of your day because it’s the beginning, it sets the stage for what events could unfold, how you act and think for the rest of your day. When you are trying to focus on working hard for your desired future, you need to learn how to take care of yourself so that you can be the best version of you. The best version of you will be able to make more progress, learn new techniques, and will succeed farther than expected! Ask yourself this question, “Do you feel like you make more progress with your business while you feel sluggish, rushed, or overwhelmed?” The answer is most likely a huge “NO”. Being a confident business owner means that you are the type of person who creates opportunities for yourself, and you take advantage of them. Every day is new and full of possibilities for you to become more successful. Therefore you need to wake up every day with a fresh start! First of all, if you don’t check your phone, you can get more sleep. Enough said, right? Who wouldn’t love more sleep? In all seriousness though, a lack of sleep results in numerous health issues, and a bad attitude! When you check your phone in the morning you are also putting your mind automatically on overdrive. You are stuffing your brain with too much information about others from social media, emails with to do lists from your boss, and text messages. You just woke up, and you are receiving so much information that you shouldn’t be focused on yet. All of that will result in added stress, and you literally just opened your eyes. Uhm, no thank you! Your whole day will be filled with to-do lists, talking to people, chatting through social media, and posting. It’s simple, your morning shouldn’t start out like the busiest parts of your day!
Choose a book that you can connect with, that speaks about the inspiration that you need to start your day. There are many books that are worth reading that will kick-start your day with positive thoughts. Taking quiet moments in your morning, whether it’s an hour or ten minutes, to read an inspiring book will form a thought process that will surely prepare you for whatever may come your way. For example, reading a book about confidence and going after your dreams will arm you with the thinking tools you’ll need to work hard at your business that day! Also, if any troubles come your way, you have already armed yourself with the assurance to face them head on! Sometimes it’s nice to hear others success stories and how they overcame their trials to get where they wanted to go. You’ll slap that book closed, ready to find your own success story!
It’s a great idea to get in at least thirty minutes of exercise to start your day. Exercising when you wake up will get the blood pumping, and the oxygen flowing to your brain. Your brain releases chemicals that will leave you in a much better mood than when you started! Instead of slugging around dreading the events because you’re dreaming of going back to bed, you’ll be energized, and thinking clearly! Exercising also strengthens your memory, which will help you achieve more in your day to day life. You can work out in your bedroom like I mentioned above, you can hit the gym early in the morning, or if you live in a neighborhood you can go for a run when you wake up. Utilize the options that you have around you!
Podcasts are the biggest hit right now! They are great to listen to while you are getting ready in the morning, but they are also great to listen to during your commute, or lunch break as well. There are many podcasts to choose from that contain soulful discussions to surely get your creative wheels turning in your brain! If you’re feeling down, or uninspired, I’m telling you that you won’t regret listening to a podcast or two. Hearing stories, and uplifting discussions from real people who have gone through what you are currently living is amazing! It’s super simple, there are many apps that you can download, and you can search specific categories that you are interested in such as arts, health, comedies, society, and culture.
I practice gratitude as soon as I wake up and make it my daily morning routine. When I wake up, I say 3 things that I am grateful for. I encourage everyone to do this, whether it is thinking out loud, putting post it notes on your mirror or writing it down in your journal. It is a practice that will ensure positivity for your morning, and that’s a great way to start every single day off. Meditating on the great things in your life, both big and small, is a great way to realize where you are in your life right now, and loving everything about it. You’ll find yourself motivated, positive, and willing to stay optimistic as you head to work!
Just like exercising, eating a healthy breakfast sets the stage for your healthy day. You are fueling your body with the yummy nutrients that will result in loads of energy, and a happy brain! You won’t have to worry about getting through the day with 10% energy, crawling at a snail’s pace.
